Pelvic tilts

GOING INTO THE POSTURE: Staying on your back with your feet on the floor, you are going to tilt the top of your pelvic area forward so that your tailbone presses into the floor; do this as you slowly inhale. As you exhale, rotate your hips back so that the top of your sacrum presses into the floor.

As you slowly inhale, rock your hips forward, pressing your tailbone towards the floor. As you slowly exhale, rotate your hips back, pressing the top of the sacrum towards the floor. Repeat this sequence several times — coordinating the movement with your breath.

BENEFITS: This exercise is very good for gently stretching and strengthening your lower back and for bringing flexibility to your spine and hips. It also helps to improve circulation to your hips, lower back, and pelvic area.

As you inhale, roll your hips forward, pressing your tailbone into the floor.

As you exhale, roll your hips back towards your torso, pressing the top of your sacrum into the floor.
